I am tired, drained, and ready to get this process over!🤣 My criteria initially was: 2-in-1; non-Mac (powerful laptop, just too expensive to purchase and maintain its platforms). I started with five narrowed it down to One; but then I learned about how great & efficient the Ryzen 4000 Series are! However, none of them support a fully spectrum thunderbolt 3.1 or greater! Great video! Started with Lenovo 3 yrs ago with a Flex 3 15.6" for IT consultant work. A year after, I traded it for a 2nd gen Flex 5 15.6 and then for the latest gen Flex 5 also in 15.6 in Nov last year. Agree with you on your comparison. At less than $800, is a great bang for your buck. My son uses a Flex 3 for school and he loves it too. Sub'ed!

I'm biased but I feel like Lenovo makes better quality products than HP. When you get to the more "budget" side I feel like Lenovo does a good job with maintaining consistency and quality for the money. I've enjoyed the flex5 for how well thought out it is.

I think it really matters to what appeals to you the most, price being the biggest factor. Amazon as of now sells the flex 5 at 600 dollars with double the ram and is 80 dollars less than the x360, while the opposite is true with the ryzen 7 models. Hp is 60 dollars less, and if you go for the 13 inch model, is 80 dollars less. There are other factors, but this is a noticeable discrepancy.

Dear Tehnopanda THANK you very much for an in depth review, exactly the one I needed. I had HP Envy 360 and I was really satisfied. After 2 years of use the keyboard suffered some weare and tear and I noticed the battery deteriation. Now Iam consudereng the purchase between these two, as Lenovo is 500gr lighter. On the local market it also sells with better configuration. The tricky part is that these two are more than double expensive than on Amazon and I want to be correct in my choice. However, even after your great review Iam still indecisive.

OK, I am just testing my new Lenovo Flex 5. I bought it for a change as to the previous HP Envy 360°, since I was not able to find on the local market an ENVY model with more advanced i7 processor and 16GB RAM that Lenovo has together with bigger SSD. So, I have to tell you that my previous ENVY, even with a bit older configuration was far better. Lenovo is plastic, althogh they say that the upper part is aluminum. The look is decent, but significantly cheaper. The sound is cruspy and significantly less loud. Web cam givess worse quality transmission ( a bit yelowish and dul) even though the pixels arr the same. I've also noticed some delay in response when on a web conference and some picture tremblings, probably due to integeated grafic card. The only PRO for this machine is that it is much ligter. I was really troubled from walking around with some 2 kg and something, which gets particularly cumbersome on longer roads, especially for a women. So, I guess that I will stick to this one for some time, untill something better shows up on the marker. A decent option at this point was HP Spectra with all the deficiences eliminated, but at 700 EURO more expensive price and more importantly an additiinal kilogram to cary around.

I got the Lenova Flex 5 with Ryzan and Radeon graphics as my travel machine for when I'm out and about and I'm loving it. It handles the blender sculpting decently, and it makes a modest gaming machine with decent enough cooling that I can use a usb type c car charger for (cost like 50 dollars) Now with all of that being said, my use case was based around whatever was the least expensive machine with a stylus and reasonable gaming support and decent thermal characteristics, because quite frankly I'm well aware that this machine is likely to be dead in a year or so from travel abuse. And quite frankly the ability to trim a few pounds off of the weight of the bags is really one of the major deciding factors as well in my use case. This is the machine I would suggest students and on the road people consider if they place a premium on how much they are lugging around and are also looking for something that would be affordable to replace.

First of all, GREAT review, thanks so much! I decided to go with the Envy x360 13 with the Ryzen 5 - as a Surface Pro 4 owner I liked the smaller 13" footprint (more convenient for traveling). Also, where I live (Asia) the SKU choices are a bit different...............my x360 is a wood edition with 16g of RAM, 512g ssd, WiFi 6 and bluetooth 5. It was also a package deal with a shoulder bag, leather portfolio case, wireless mouse (2.4g), USB-C hub, even a cleaning kit.........................$865.00 USD. An AMAZING machine for the price, I'm VERY happy with it! Thanks again, looking forward to more great reviews from you!!

@Malek Salem No idea how many fps I get but you can play things like minecraft. Games that require more (for example cs:go or battlefront) are about the limit for what you can run smoothly if you have settings on medium quality. I hope this helped

I got flex 5 ( amd ryzen 5 4500u) at 60k with 3 year warranty with 3 year accidental damage warranty . Its good for a beginner .

Hi, i think you do an amaizing job with your review. Im am looking for a 2 in 1 portable laptop and im not sure if i should go with HP Envy 360 or Microsoft surface x pro. My main goal is to do video conference with my clients anddo some chart drawing for them during the video conference. I know there is a big price difference. Witch one should i buy ? Thank you :)

I don't recommend using a screen protector because it will interfere with the pen performance

@Norhan K. It looks like HP has a Ryzen CPU, but, Lenovo is best with the stylus pen. The stylus doesn´t come with all HP Envy - at Walmart it does not! PLUS the 14" screen on Lenovo is way better and more practical to hold and write on the screen. Lenovo is a great choice.

@Maurício MP Good idea, i have a hp with i think 12.6inch i just measured it so both 14” and 15” seem to be a change for me. I think I’m gonna get the lenovo one bc of the ryzen 5 and I can’t find the hp where i live in Ryzen 5 with 15inch screen (only 13.3inch which kinda not a big change )🙏

@Norhan K. This is how I decided: Lenovo´s 14" screen is more practical, but I´ve had a 13" laptop for about 10 years and wanted a larger screen to watch films / Netflix and replace a TV. So I took HP Envy 15" laptop... What´s your current computer? Try to make a change. Another thing: in another review again a graphic designer confirmed the Lenovo´s stylus pen is better. So if your focus is on writing on the screen, take the Lenovo, no doubt about it.

I can’t decide which one to get💔 the HP is 50 less than the lenovo when i live (but it’s core i5 not Rayzn 5)
