Unboxing Motorola's new Moto G9 Play, the first budget-friendly smartphone from the fresh G9 2020 series, with a tour of the specs, camera tech, performance and more. Expect killer battery life and a slick stock Android experience, and stay tuned for my full review of the Motorola G9 Play next week.
The Moto G9 Play costs £159 in the UK yet packs a very respectable setup. Performance is basic but still suitable for everyday apps and games like PubG Mobile should still play with a respectable frame rate. No worries on the battery side either, as Motorola has crammed a 5000mAh effort inside.
The budget leanings start to show with that simple 6.5-inch HD IPS screen, which isn't as crisp as some rivals like the Redmi 9. All the same, I'd happily stream a movie on the G9 Play. You've got a headphone jack (hooray!) and Bluetooth 5.0 support, as well as dual-band WiFi and NFC support.
As for the camera tech, that's a 48MP primary lens with macro and depth sensors chucked in for good measure. I'll fully test the photo and video quality for my in depth Motorola G9 Play phone review, coming next week.
